Basic search parameters are: and, or, but not, and near.
No two search engines use the same protocol for the foregoing concepts. Use the often provided instruction link. Best practice - keep the link open in a new window for the duration of that search.
Remember that misspellings happen, particularly where documents have been scanned. Check to see if "fuzzy" searching is available or use wildcards to capture more results.
