Just a quick note to voice
one concern. I am a veterinarian. My interest
in this issue is to allow the
ag industry to continue without hinderences
from government. I do not object to the goal of clean water
and runoff. I
would like to see a minimum
of hoops for farm operators to jump through to
accheive this goal. I really think that is in everyones
interest. It adds
to the cost of our food to
have lots of red tape.
I think compliance with the
2001 and 2003 practices will be easy enough and
not costly. i would object ato the testing of the
manure. That is required
in 2005. Why is this
necessary? Can't you make general
catagories and give
it a potency estimate? Farmers may have some benefit from testing
soil so
they should pay for
that. Testing of manure should not be a
cost to the
farmer. I think that step could be eliminated.
Also if records are to be
kept it should be done at county extension office.
I would be interested in your
view.
